Hello and welcome to another week!
I wasn’t a very happy camper on my birthday this year, I woke up in a bad mood that I just couldn’t shake (My guess is the inevitable upcoming fly out day for my partner). It wasn’t all bad though, one of my absolutely fantastic best friends drove over to my house in the morning with red velvet cupcakes because she knew I wasn’t going to fuss over a cake and my partner who, even though he doesn’t like Sushi, bought a massive sushi feed for us all to enjoy, I’m so glad I took photo’s because looking back, it was a pretty good day all round!
The rest of the week was fairly quiet, my partner flew out for work for two weeks and then it was just me and my boy. Ryan and I had a great time ‘fixing the engine’ of his ute and testing out the new laundry sink my partner installed in the laundry/bathroom.. it’s seriously, HUGE! But there is method to the madness, we needed a big enough sink to still call it a laundry 🙂
For this one, I used Amy Tangerine Yes, Please! 12×12 paper pad I got on clearance a little while ago – I wanted to go a little more girly since it was my birthday spread after all! I wasn’t happy with my hand writing so I printed out my journaling instead and used minimal embellishments, a few wood veneers and stickers done the trick!
See you soon!
I hope you have all had a fabulous week!
My week 3 spread turned out to be two whole double pages!
My partner cooked dinner not only once, but TWICE! Oh, who am I kidding, he cooks all the time LOL.
In relationships, there has to be compromise – I ‘let’ him go on his fishing trip for a few days, he comes back and cooks me dinner – and boy, does he make the BEST Marron salad ever! (Marron is like tiny lobster) One day I will actually write down the recipe, it’s soo good! We also had a family day along the river catching crabs, seriously nothing beats eating the stuff you catch! Then it was our cousins engagement party where we all got to dress up all fancy and stuff and back to the river to celebrate my birthday and catch more crabs, pretty much just enjoying our time together before my partner went back to work.
For the first spread in week 3, I used Amy Tangerine Plus One paper pad, I have the mini kit too but I really want to clear some space on my shelves for other goodies! The embellishments were minimal, I used Kaisercraft mini alphabet letter’s I had in my stash and more of the incredibly old school Heidi Swapp chipboard alphabet that I’ve had for at least 5 years. Here’s to using up old stuff!
My second spread I used Simple Stories ‘For Him’ cards. I seriously love this collection, I’ve probably used this set of cards more than any other one I have here. I played with my cameo and cut a title out of white cardstock, and stamped the date a few times with my Dear Lizzy roller stamp.
Thanks for stopping by!
Ok, so my ‘next week’ turned into two or three.. It took me a little while to get good lighting to take pictures of my spreads, my house is seriously dark and the lighting is great for saving power but not so great for taking pictures, I ended up going outside and hoping for the best!
So today I’ll be sharing my week 2 spread, just one page for week two, I am sticking to my plan of doing project life by weeks this year but I am finding it quite impractical, I like the concept but it’s just not really for me. I found monthly pages last year had a lot less pressure!
I’ve used the same paper pad as week one (Studio Calico Alantic Collection) for my 6×4 slots, which has a mix of colours, including a little pink for me! The “True Story” card is from an awesome printable journal card set called ‘Good Life’ by Miss Tiina which is totally free – these are by far the best ones I have found to date. The other is a journal card from the Becky Higgins midnight core kit.
The label embellishments are from http://www.feedyourcraft.com , also a free printable. Lastly, by memory, the arrow sticker on the printable card is MAMBI (Absolutely LOVE their stickers!)
Week two was a little crazy for me, my boy picked up a gastro bug which he so generously gave me the following day, unfortunately for me, I got it ten times worse than he did, then my partner went away on his fishing trip he’d been planning for like ever. The good news is, my Christmas present arrived so my Cricut machine got packed away and my Cameo got set up ready to play, plus some new goodies in the Deer & Fawn ‘Deer Box’ arrived for me to play with when I was well – YAY! for new goodies!
Till next time,
I am jumping on the blog posting bandwagon a little late this year, it took me a little bit to get motivated, plus my partner got extra time off over the Christmas break so we got to have some time together before heading back to the daily grind.
I have already shared my 2015 cover page over at the Deer & Fawn Designs blog where I was on of the December 2014 – January 2015 designers so this week will be my week one of my faimly’s Project Life album for this year. Something I really want to work on this year is my photography skills, I totally suck with lighting being a night owl crafter!
I have been wanting to use my paper stash for a while so for this week (Which was very short for me) I used a Studio Calico 6×6 paper pad for my backgrounds and two 3×4 Midnight edition cards, the only embellishment is the number 1 which came from a Heidi Swapp chipboard alpha set from about 7 years ago!.
Pop back next week for my week 2!
I’ve been super busy at the moment running around after my newly 3 year old, plus lots of crafting is being done behind the scenes as I have recently joined the design team over at Deer and Fawn Designs! Be sure to check their blog every Saturday for my DT posts!
In other news, I’ve been working on this adorable mini album for a friend, it will be her son’s first christmas ever (and you only get ONE of those!) so I wanted to make a super cute keepsake for her so she can document the event! I know she isn’t very crafty herself but she does love photos!
Here is what I’ve made using the Doodlebug Santa Express range, some card stock and a few die cuts!
Enjoy your weekend!
Oh my, was I stoked to see my letterbox over flowing today! I have been eagerly awaiting a partial Kiwi edition project life kit which finally made it and a brand spanking new set of Kellie Winnell stamps!
I got these babies from over at Kellie’s page and let me just say, the second my Mr R’s eyes were closed the ink practically flew into the stamps!
I am participating in the November card swap over at Deer & Fawn Designs , I have been allocated a 3×4 card that has to be Christmas themed. This is my very first card swap ever so I am a little nervous yet excited all at the same time, I really hope the others love what I have created!
I chose to paint gold stripes on the card bases as almost everyone is loving gold at the moment (I hated gold just a few short weeks ago) but I also wanted to make it original, with that extra bit of love thrown in there!
Once dry, I selected a few sequins from my stash, adhered with glossy accents and added a few die cut pieces.
The heart doily die is a set by Simon Says Stamp, I cut this out of gold metallic paper I’ve had for a while, and stamped on it with the ‘happy’ stamp from the Kellie Stamps set pictured above.
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my typewriter, so in the meantime, I’ve improvised with a font on the computer called VT Portable Remington, which is the closest to a typewriter I could find. I printed ‘Christmas’ out 6 times using this font and ran it through my big shot with the WeRMK banners die set.
I’m pretty happy the way they turned out!
I also had a play with another stamp from the set, not sure what I’ll do with the card yet but it’s soo pretty!!! It’s my very favourite stamp out of them all for today!
Have a great day!!!
Miss Polley x
So, it has taken all of 24hrs for me to get my kit out and make a page (for those that know me, I am mainly a craft supply hoarder rather than an actual crafter). I somehow managed to convince Mr. R to sit down and scrap a little bit while I had some ‘quiet time’ – absolutely super cute, apart from his grubby face from when we washed our windows!
Anyway moving on, I had my pics printed yesterday and the Simple Stories Him Sn@p cards I received in my deer and Fawn kit were a match made in heaven! I am totally smitten with the kit, I’m finding it soo much easier to actually craft when it’s all coordinated for me!
About the only thing I didn’t like was the American Crafts Cork stars.. don’t get me wrong, they look awesome, but not great for repositioning, they litterally fell apart on me.
After an incredibly stressful morning, I’ve come home to lots of goodies!!
What feels like weeks ago (the joys of regional towns) I bought a partial core kit if Dreamy which I’ve had my eye on for a while now but really, let’s be honest, I think 7 full core kits already is excessive especially when they are bringing all these must have mini kits too!
So anyway, the other thing that arrived today is the arrival of my very first kit EVER!!
Deer and Fawn Designs are based in Oz and have a slightly different take on kits – You fill in a questionnaire that is sent via email and Debbie goes and custom makes your kit to suit your answers / current projects – big WIN in my books!
So here is what was whipped together according to my answers which were pretty much along the lines of I have a 3yr old boy, and that’s about it!
If funds permit, I think I might just jump on the regular subscription band wagon!!
